ASSESSMENT OF ORGANIC AMENDMENTS FOR IMPROVING GROWTH AND MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ANTIRRHINUM MAJUS L

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of different potting media formulations with varying compositions on the growth and flowering performance of Antirrhinum majus L. Statistical analysis of physiological and growth parameters revealed significant differences among the tested media treatments compared with the control. Each treatment consisted of 10 plants with three replications, and several vegetative and reproductive traits were assessed under the different potting media combinations.
The results demonstrated significant improvements in plant growth and flowering attributes when leaf mold-based media were supplemented with farmyard manure. Among the evaluated formulations, the media containing farmyard manure, leaf mold, topsoil, and silt (T₄; 1:0.5:0.5:1) and the higher pH formulation consisting of farmyard manure and silt (T₃) showed comparatively lower effectiveness. In contrast, treatments incorporating silt with either topsoil or leaf mold exhibited positive effects on vegetative development and floral performance. These findings indicate that leaf mold represents an effective and sustainable potting medium component for enhancing growth and flowering in Antirrhinum majus L., highlighting its potential for improved ornamental plant production
